What is Profhilo?

Profhilo is an injectable treatment for skin laxity that uses Hyaluronic Acid, which is hydrophilic, meaning it attracts water molecules an provides hydration, which can be used on the face, neck, decollete and hands. Profhilo works by giving a large dose of Hyaluronic Acid, which will improve skin quality, tighten the skin, improve laxity/crepey skin and reduce fine lines. Initially, two treatments, 4 weeks apart, are recommended then a maintenance dose after 3 months.

What are Polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides are chains of nucleotides, extracted from DNA. They are the ‘up and coming’ treatment and have been described as regenerative, as they increase cell stimulation and regeneration, and work to restore and improve skin quality. Polynucleotides differ to Profhilo in that they are derived from extracted salmon sperm DNA, whereas Profhilo is made of Hyaluronic Acid.

I’ve had previous fillers with other practitioners, do I need this dissolved before booking treatment?

You do not necessarily need the other filler dissolved but if you have lumps/migration/displacement of the filler, dissolving first is usually the best option.

If filler has remained in situ for a number of years, it is likely that dissolving the old filler first will give a better aesthetic outcome.

How long do dermal filler and treatments with Botulinum Toxin A last?

On average, dermal fillers last around 6-12 months but this can vary based on product used, area treated and a number of factors such as lifestyle of the patient. Patients may find they require/are advised to have further treatment once the initial treatment has healed and settled into the tissue. Further treatments can be added to maintain volume/definition.

Treatments with Botox ® (Botulinum Toxin A) can be given as soon as every 12 weeks. Treatments cannot be given sooner than 12 weeks, as this can put the patient at risk of developing an immunity. The nerve endings which the product works on begin to repair/regenerate after 6-8 weeks, so muscle movement gradually returns. Repeated treatments are expected to maintain results.
